If it is possible, we can optimize the performance of our set top box via adding low process consuming graphics. We get these coding software called Stimulator/Emulator. I remember the first ever microprocessor coding 8086 chip set.

Similarly using these software we can edit the firmware. I don't recollect the name of this stimulator or editor, its been more than 15yrs since college days.

But trust me this is not a easy task, this purely with assembly level programming technique, even to display a pic or graphics we had to write some 100 line code considering all possibilities.
